MARK DYNAMIX BIO 2008

If one person in Australia can say he’s done the rounds a few times and come out the other end better than ever, it’s Mark Dynamix. He’s been a significant figure in Australian dance music culture since the mid 1990’s, fashioning new musical styles upon Aussie ears through constant touring, CD releases and production. To date, he has 27 mix CDs, 8 original releases and multiple remixes to his name and with sales fast approaching 2 million units worldwide, no Australian DJ has sold more compilations. It’s no wonder his mix for “M.o.S The Annual 2007" became the highest selling compilation in the country ever, dance or otherwise.
His new baby is the totally independent label “Long Distance Recordings” which launched globally to digital retail stores such as Beatport, Dance Music Hub & DJ Download as recently as July 2008. The label allows for electronic experimentation in minimal & tech styles and the aim is to pair up Australian artists with producers overseas, forging a stronger bond between the Australian & European dance scene & gaining exposure for Aussie artists in the process. The first single on the label from Mark (under the monikor MDX) alongside Germany’s Namito is called “Salt”. Dave Basek will follow with LDR002 shortly. Look out for releases on LDR featuring Tonka, Stephen Hinz, Chopstick & Johnjon, Jaytech, Danny Bonnici, Bass Kleph, Mortlock, Nick Galea, Ben Kelly, Ryan Riback & Matt Nugent alongside MDX himself.
He’s also launched a separate project called “Lost In Nova Scotia”; an outlet for the more club orientated end of the spectrum, with a single called “What U Do To Me” recently signed by Hussle/Ministry and featured on the “M.O.S Clubbers Guide To Spring” and “Progression” compilations. .
In the latter half of 2007 Mark resided in the world’s electronica hub, Berlin. Using Germany as a base Mark played gigs across Europe including Fluid in London, Naughty in Brussels, Weekend in Berlin and Climax in Stuttgart. The influence of the European sound is much more evident in his DJ sets of late; infusing a deeper minimal sound with some out right percussive techno stormers! From Europe, Mark continued touring the first quarter of 2008 in Canada and Japan. His fifth return visit to Canada ensured a sold out tour offering the North American’s a taste of what’s to come on Long Distance Recordings. Another solid placing in ITM50 proves Mark’s change in musical direction is proving a winner with fans and newbies alike!
